We couldn’t let the moment pass without a spotlight…
Name:
Naomi Bokedal
Where do you live?
Aberdeen city
Previous role:
I worked in various roles to support myself through university. I’ve worked as a Sales Assistant, Crew Trainer and Floor Manager in various establishments over the years. All very different from what I’m doing now, but I learned a lot from these roles about people and customer service, and that’s something that ECS are really focused on too, which is great.
What attracted you to ECS?
I learned a lot about research and problem solving at University and this was also where I developed an interest in composite materials. I was looking for a role where I could learn more about this sector and ECS was the perfect fit – it is forward-thinking and always striving to do more for its clients through innovation.
Best bits about your new job:
FutureWrap is a fantastic product! The atmosphere in the office is very welcoming, and everyone is super friendly. The people at ECS are making it such a joyful experience! Simon has also got me doing some very interesting research, which is a lot of fun!
Worst bits?
I was a little nervous at the start, as this is the first step on the ‘career ladder’ for me, but I am loving every minute of it and I put that down to the team – they really helped to put me at ease.
How do you spend your spare time?
I try to keep active by spending time in nature or going to the gym. I am a big Eurovision fan and am currently also enjoying watching League of Legends esports at the weekends.
Do you have any pets?
My partner and I have two rabbits. I also have a cat, Isla, who lives with my parents.
Favourite colour?
I love nature and earthy colours, shades of orange and green, or light, breezy, happy colours, aqua or blush. Colour has such a big impact on how we feel and interpret the world.
Favourite place?
Out in nature! Either walking down by the beach, looking at the waves, or up a hill gazing at the stunning Scottish landscape!
Favourite food?
I love Swedish food: smörgåstårta, meatballs, princess cake, Marabou chocolate, but I am also currently very excited about Mexican food, especially quesadillas!
What do you hope to achieve in your new job?
I hope to develop my skills in practical and theoretical aspects of composites. I’m looking forward to helping ECS in researching and testing eco-friendly materials – it’s a growing side of the business and something of real interest to me.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
I think composite materials are the way forward, so I hope to continue working in this sector. I am really excited about environmentally friendly composites, as well as development and recycling, and I am so grateful to be able to work with ECS, where I will learn more about all these aspects of the industry!
